Footprint Features was born in the theater. For six years, Footprint’s founders ran an award winning theater company in Los Angeles called Footprint on the Sun, so named in order to symbolize the idea of “accomplishing the impossible”. The mission was to nurture and develop young artists – encouraging them to take bold risks in their craft while creating stories that would inspire and entertain mainstream audiences.

From that strong, character driven base, Footprint turned its story telling focus to film. With the indispensable help of the Oscar winning Bedford Falls Productions, Footprint Features went into production on its first film, Matt K. Turner’s “Family Weekend.” Directed by Benjamin Epps and starring Kristin Chenoweth, Matthew Modine, Joey King, and Olesya Rulin, the family comedy was sold to Paramount international and released theatrically in 2013.

That same year, Footprint collaborated with Bedford Falls again, this time on Jesse Zwick’s directorial debut “About Alex”. Starring Nate Parker, Aubrey Plaza, Max Greenfield, Maggie Grace, Jason Ritter and Jane Levy, the film is a searingly honest look at the changing nature of adult friendship in the Facebook/Twitter generation. It premiered at the 2014 TriBeCa film festival, was sold to Sony international and released theatrically that same year.

Footprint next joined forces with Writ Large to produce award winning screenwriter Oren Uziel’s directorial debut “Shimmer Lake”. Starring Benjamin Walker, Rainn Wilson, Wyatt Russell, Stephanie Sigman, Rob Corddry, and Ron Livingston, Shimmer Lake is a brilliantly inventive crime thriller told backwards. It debuted on Netflix in June 2017.

Footprint most recently partnered with Oscar nominated production company MXN, and Wonderland Sound and Vision in order to produce the time travel romantic comedy “When We First Met”. Directed by Ari Sandel, the film tells the story of Noah (Adam Devine) who gets an unexpected chance to travel back in time in order to relive the first date with the girl of his dreams (Alexandra Daddario), over and over again. The comedy was produced as a Netflix Original and will also appear on Netflix in February 2018.

Today, Footprint is developing several new projects, and continues to expand our relationships with the finest writers, directors, producers, and performers of character driven material in the business. We look forward to bringing those stories to you, our beloved audience.
